How HEIC conversion works
HEIC (or HEIF) is the photo format used by default on iPhones since iOS 11. It's efficient but isn't widely supported outside Apple devices, which causes problems when sharing photos or uploading them to websites.
This tool decodes the HEIC file directly in your browser and re-encodes it as JPG or PNG. The file is never uploaded to any server: everything happens locally on your device.

Is my photo sent to any server?
No. The HEIC file is decoded and converted entirely in your browser; it never leaves your device.
Why can't I see a preview before converting?
Most browsers can't render HEIC images natively, so a preview only appears after the file is converted to JPG or PNG.
Should I choose JPG or PNG?
JPG is best for photos and produces smaller files. Choose PNG only if you need lossless quality or transparency, which is rare for camera photos.
Does this work with photos exported from Live Photos?
Yes, as long as the file is a standard HEIC/HEIF image. Video components of Live Photos aren't converted.
